BIO
Linda DeLeo is a contemporary multidisciplinary artist whose practice encompasses acrylic and watercolor painting, drawing, printmaking, and collage. DeLeo draws inspiration from the architectural features of contemporary commercial interiors, explorations of natural settings, and from the study of expressive language originated by 20th-century American Abstract Expressionists such as Helen Frankenthaler, Joan Mitchell, and Frank Stella.
Her large-scale, non-representational works emphasize bold color, geometric structure, layered textures, and recurring architectural motifs. Her creative process incorporates a diverse range of materials including incorporating acrylics, ink, oils, lithography and collage applications of textured papers, fabrics, metals, and natural elements such as sand and foliage. These elements are manipulated through pouring, brushing, rolling, scraping, and gluing and contribute to a sense of depth and movement.
While abstract in nature, her compositions and color palettes often carry indirect references to contemporary events, human experiences, and specific locations. A unifying theme in DeLeo’s work is the visual language of commercial architecture—its furnishings, finishes, and built elements—translated into layered, immersive visual forms. Her pieces reside in various private collections across the United States and continue to evolve as explorations of presence, material, and meaning.
